A ruby crystal from Burma. This proud piece has still some calcite crystals attached, where the rubies are typically found in Mogok. The most of the prism faces of the ruby are well developed and showing some very nice luster. You easily can see a lot of bohemite needles intersecting at 60 degrees as well as polysynthetic twinning throughout the stone. The color is orangey-brown to light pink and the clarity is apart from some parts at the surface translucent. Also the calcite has a distinctive shape and small mica crystals are imbedded as well. A beautiful natural assemblage and a great collector’s item. SE |
